Today, December 2, the Verkhovna Rada adopted in the first reading and immediately adopted the draft Law № 3672 “On Amendments to the Final Provisions of the Law of Ukraine” On Food Safety and Hygiene “in order to stabilize the feed market.”

On January 19, 2020, the Law of Ukraine “On Food Safety and Hygiene” came into force, which stipulates that any person may use feed additives provided that such feed additive is registered in Ukraine.

However, in practice, the system of state registration of feed additives, as provided by law, has not fully worked.

Deputy Minister Serhiy Glushchenko noted that this leads to a reduction in the supply of feed on the market and, as a result, to significant economic losses for businesses.

In order to solve this problem, the draft Law № 3672 amends the Law of Ukraine “On Food Safety and Hygiene”, which allows the free use in Ukraine of feed additives registered in the European Union.

“Such regulation will be applied on a temporary basis – for four years, which will be calculated from January 19, 2020. This time should be enough to create a full-fledged system of registration of feed additives in Ukraine, which will fully comply with the requirements of EU legislation, “said Deputy Minister Serhiy Glushchenko.
