The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed the bill № 2289 on amendments to Art. 4 of the Law of Ukraine “On Pesticides and Agrochemicals”, which allows the import into Ukraine of prototypes of the latest plant protection products.
Due to these changes, the import of samples of innovative plant protection products for scientific research and state tests is now open on the territory of Ukraine. This will make it possible to create new biological drugs. With the help of innovative drugs will not only preserve crop yields, but also improve its quality by reducing costs. At the same time, increasing yields is also additional revenue for the state.
It is envisaged to improve certain legislative provisions of the Law of Ukraine “On Pesticides and Agrochemicals” on the regulation of import and use in Ukraine of unregistered pesticides, the use of pesticide residues and agrochemicals, the registration of which has expired.
We remind that the head of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy Roman Leshchenko considers an important step for the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on June 30 in the second reading and in general of the Law on Amendments to Article 4 of the Law of Ukraine “On Pesticides and Agrochemicals” on import of pesticides into Ukraine 1586-IX bill №2289).
The five-year ban will encourage the resumption of investment in research in the plant protection segment. In general, we can talk about a loss of about 5% of GDP. Every year we did not receive the harvest, which thanks to innovative drugs could be not only higher, but also better, ”said Roman Leshchenko. “Today in the EU, the discussion of the ‘green course’ is based on the main question: ‘how can agriculture be efficient and at the same time environmentally safe?’
Modern innovative pesticides will increase the greening of agriculture, which is especially important at a time when the EU is setting new management standards to minimize environmental impact in its European Green Deal strategy. Ukraine supports increased efforts in climate diplomacy. We see ourselves as an integral part of achieving the goals of the European Green Deal, ”said Roman Leshchenko.
